Golborne-based Wetherby Building Systems, the UK’s leading manufacturer and distributor of external wall insulation (EWI) systems, is benefitting from the government’s new energy efficiency schemes as it sees turnover rocket by 232%.
The company has just released its 2012 figures, which reveal an increase in its annual turnover from £18.4m to £61m, with profits rising by 342% during the same period. The latest sales figures come on the back of three previous years of steady growth, with the company’s annual turnover now six times the £9.3m it achieved in 2009.
The dramatic increase in sales can be attributed to the government’s energy efficiency schemes CESP and CERT, as EWI solutions are one of the primary energy-saving measures included under the schemes, creating huge demand for effective EWI systems.
Wetherby is also seeing huge demand for its systems to be installed under ECO, the government’s latest energy efficiency scheme launched at the beginning of the year. Involved in some of the largest ECO schemes in the country, Wetherby has recently been selected to provide EWI solutions for a £20m project to renovate 4,700 homes for Watford Community Housing Trust, which is currently the largest ECO project in the UK.
Wetherby has also secured new supply chain deals with major energy companies and building contractors that have ECO contracts agreed, increasing demand for the company’s EWI systems.
To ensure it can meet market demand and continue to offer customers the best possible service, Wetherby is extending its distribution operation at Golborne to cater for the increased demand for its products. It has also invested heavily in a new purpose-built training facility in Haydock, to ensure there are enough skilled EWI labourers to cater for the demand.
Commenting on the exceptional sales performance, Wetherby managing director Bob Deane said: “It is fantastic for an independent company like Wetherby to be achieving such staggering growth. The ECO scheme has generated a huge demand for EWI systems and as a company that has successfully provided solutions for over 20 years, we are at the top of the list for many of the major projects.
“The ECO scheme is running until 2015, so the requirement for EWI solutions is only set to grow over the next two years. It is important we continue to offer the high levels of service we are known for, so we are investing heavily in our staff, training and facilities to ensure we can meet the continued demand.”
