The Axwell Park Estate in Blaydonwas sold in 1921 and since then its fortunes have been mixed. In 1980 the hall was left to deteriorate and the parkland became unkempt and overgrown. The Dare Group set out to fully restore the hall and re-create the gardens to their former magnificence.

These new build town houses are the first phase of the rejuvenation of the estate and have been set over three storeys to capture the views of the walled gardens from their glass walls and balconies.

In keeping with the sympathetic restoration of the estate, Dare was keen to use modern methods of construction together with resource efficient materials.  The Wetherby Epsitec Insulated System gave the ideal solution.

The houses were constructed using Structural Insulated Panels (SIPS) .  Wetherby Epsitec Rails were then fixed to the SIPS panels followed by 40mm EPS Insulation Boards, creating a natural drainage cavity between the SIPS panels and the insulation and thus ensuring that the SIPS panels remain dry and structurally sound for years to come.

A layer of basecoat, primer and a top-coat of Wetherby 1.5mm Silicone ‘K’ in brilliant white encapsulated the insulation to give a finish to the properties that was not only striking in appearance but also weatherproof and low maintenance.
