For those who regularly use the Midlands motorway network, this image will be a familiar sight.
Until recently, this depressing highrise block cast a gloomy shadow from its elevated section of the M5. However, as part of a new redevelopment project to refurbish a number of blocks in the area, Sandwell High Rise Decent Homes Team have been left delighted with the amazing transformation of Mountford House.
Working in conjunction with Lovell and MIB Façades a Wetherby Insulated Render System was used incorporating 100mm Mineral Wool and a Wetherby 1.5mm Silicone ‘K’ texture in two contrasting shades of blue.
The visual results speak for themselves and in addition to its striking appearance, the thermal performance of the block was greatly increased and U-value reduced from 1.7W/m²K to 0.29W/m², meaning that the tenants should see a reduction in the amount of energy they use to heat their homes.
