Wetherby celebrates INCA win!

Elliott Drive photo completed - Campbell MarshWetherby have been celebrating at the annual Insulated Render and Cladding Association (INCA) awards just recently as it scooped the top prize in the Domestic Refurbishment – Low Rise (5 houses or fewer) category.

The win was for a pilot project involving two houses in Warwickshire; 56 and 58 Elliot Drive, in which the two Wimpey No-Fines properties were retrofitted to different levels of energy performance in order to determine an optimum design for subsequent rollout.

Different levels of insulation thicknesses were applied to each property; the first utilised 100mm of Phenolic insulation to reduce annual energy consumption from 325kWh/m2 to 75Wh/m2, while the second had 200mm of EWB insulation fitted to meet the Passivhaus EnerPHit standard, achieving a heat energy consumption of just 23kWh/m2.

Both homes were finished with WBS 1.5mm silicone thincoat render and achieved a reduction in U-Value from 2.10W/m2K to 0.3W/m2K, in line with current building regulations. INCA stated that the low levels of heat loss and air permeability were testament to the outstanding workmanship on this project.

Wetherby was also Highly Commended in the Domestic Refurbishment – Low Rise (six houses or more) category for a £12m project in Withington and Burnage in South Manchester.

A CESP funded project for Southway Housing Trust, this scheme boasted the most extensive use of brick slip cladding in Europe. The refurbishment saw 900 properties upgraded with EWI to not only improve the energy efficiency of the houses, but also to dramatically update the aesthetics of the area.

The vision of creating local streetscapes, each with their own individual identity, was achieved by installing Wetherby’s Epsiwall and Epsibrick systems incorporating 60mm phenolic insulation, finished with laguna brick slips and specially sourced coloured ceramic brick slips.

Also shortlisted for three other awards on the night, it was a successful event for Wetherby, Commenting on the award win, Anne-Marie Armstrong, Marketing Director at Wetherby said: “There were so many fantastic projects nominated this year, it was a great achievement to win one of the awards. There is huge potential for EWI projects under new government initiatives such as Green Deal and ECO and this accolade is a testament to the hard work of our sales team who identify new opportunities for retrofit projects.”
