Wetherby celebrates INCA win!

Wetherby have been celebrating at the annual Insulated Render and Cladding Association (INCA) awards just recently as it scooped the top prize in the Domestic Refurbishment – Low Rise (5 houses or fewer) category.

The win was for a pilot project involving two houses in Warwickshire; 56 and 58 Elliot Drive, in which the two Wimpey No-Fines properties were retrofitted to different levels of energy performance in order to determine an optimum design for subsequent rollout.

EpsiTherm insulant gains BBA certification

Wetherby is the first EWI provider in the UK to gain BBA certification for a grey EPS insulation board to be used with both silicone and dash render finishes.

Following the EpsiTherm insulation board completing all BBA testing in May, the new BBA certifications allow Wetherby to provide a fully approved EWI solution utilising a graphite-enhanced EPS insulation board.

Watford’s winning ECO scheme!

Wetherby has been awarded the EWI element of a major £20m ECO scheme to provide carbon saving measures to four of Watford Community Housing Trust’s housing estates over the next two years.

In the first project of its kind, the two year ECO-funded programme is the largest in the UK and will see 4,700 homes, across four of WCHT’s estates, fitted with carbon saving measures by 2015.

Making a sustainable commitment …

Wetherby has now expanded its innovative ‘Waste Collection Scheme’, which will ultimately prevent a significant amount of insulation waste from being disposed of in landfill sites.

A long-standing waste take back scheme has been in place for Wetherby’s phenolic insulation for a little over 18 months and the scheme is now being expanded to include the majority of its insulation product portfolio.

Understanding ECO …

Since the Green Deal and ECO schemes launched at the beginning of the year there has been much confusion surrounding funding, delivery and the processes involved.

Wetherby are looking to provide some clarity around these issues.

Transforming Salford’s Skyline!

Nine Acre Court, a prominent Salford tower block, has undergone a major £3m thermal and aesthetical transformation using EWI solutions from Wetherby.

Built in 1972, Nine Acre Court is a 50 meter tall, 18-storey building that dominates the local skyline, but was in a state of disrepair. According to the Indices of Deprivation 2010, this particular area of Salford sits within the top 3% of deprived areas. Once CESP funding became available to the lowest 10% of deprived areas, it was possible for the tower block to undergo a significant transformation.

NIA release statement on Benefits of SWI

Following the publication of an unhelpful article by the BBC on overheating and Green Deal, the National Insulation Association have issued a press release in conjunction with the Energy Saving Trust and Age UK.

The release is designed to counter the BBC report, focussing on the very positive benefits of insulation and the inclusion of EST and Age UK provides a degree of impartiality and greater credibility.
