The National Insulation Association (NIA) is hosting a special workshop on 23rd July aimed at helping to solve issues with fuel poverty in solid wall properties in private housing.

Recent analysis undertaken by the NIA and Centre for Sustainable Energy has identified that there are around 1.5m households living in fuel poverty in solid wall homes and that some 90% of these are in private sector housing (owner occupier and private rented) and unlikely to receive help to insulate through current Government and energy company schemes.

Cosy Homes for Devon

Residents in Mid Devon are being urged to take advantage of part or fully funded solid wall insulation before the offer ends in September 2014.


The Cosy Devon Scheme is a framework created by Devon and Torbay local authorities to provide energy efficiency measures to private sector residents.

E.on was appointed as the long term delivery partner to provide these measures, which is hoped to be up to 7,000 installations by March 2015. E.on are looking to engage with locally based contractors in order to help deliver the works through the Cosy Devon Scheme.

New incentive set to boost EWI industry

In welcome news for the EWI industry, DECC has announced a new Green Deal Home improvement Fund (GDHIF), offering consumers up to £6,000 for installing external wall insulation.

NIA offers money saving tips to reduce domestic energy bills

Another Award Win in the Bag for Wetherby!

Wetherby have been celebrating in style at the annual Knowsley Business and Regeneration awards just recently after picking up the prize in the regeneration category.

The win was for a large scale refurbishment project in Kirkby, Merseyside where 2050 privately owned homes benefitted from external wall insulation installed as the primary energy saving measure in a £15.5m regeneration project. Initiated by Wetherby Building Systems Ltd (WBS) and Knowsley Metropolitan Borough Council (KMBC), the scheme was adopted to improve the energy efficiency of properties in the area.

NIA calls to strengthen ECO!

With decisions imminent on the future of the Government’s energy efficiency scheme, the Energy Company Obligation (ECO), the National Insulation Association (NIA) is urging the Prime Minister and Chancellor to retain the ECO and take the opportunity to make changes to the scheme to significantly increase the number of households receiving help and accelerate the pace of delivery.

Government Schemes Boost Wetherby’s Sales

Golborne-based Wetherby Building Systems, the UK’s leading manufacturer and distributor of external wall insulation (EWI) systems, is benefitting from the government’s new energy efficiency schemes as it sees turnover rocket by 232%.

The company has just released its 2012 figures, which reveal an increase in its annual turnover from £18.4m to £61m, with profits rising by 342% during the same period. The latest sales figures come on the back of three previous years of steady growth, with the company’s annual turnover now six times the £9.3m it achieved in 2009.

Wetherby celebrates INCA win!

Wetherby have been celebrating at the annual Insulated Render and Cladding Association (INCA) awards just recently as it scooped the top prize in the Domestic Refurbishment – Low Rise (5 houses or fewer) category.

The win was for a pilot project involving two houses in Warwickshire; 56 and 58 Elliot Drive, in which the two Wimpey No-Fines properties were retrofitted to different levels of energy performance in order to determine an optimum design for subsequent rollout.
