Wetherby Building Systems has gained British Board of Agrément (BBA) approval for its Epsitec external wall insulation (EWI) system for installation onto timber frame buildings, offering specifiers and consultants further flexibility when selecting systems to work with modern methods of construction.

With increasingly more new build schemes utilising modern building techniques to reduce project timescales and costs, Wetherby has specifically designed its Epsitec system to work with steel and timber frame constructions.  The new timber frame certification is suitable for new and existing domestic and non-domestic buildings up to four storeys in height, while Wetherby holds appropriate fire certification

New College Accommodation

As part of a major regeneration scheme to upgrade its facilities, a national college has used external wall insulation (EWI) from Wetherby Building Systems for its new accommodation development.

The college has undertaken a £12m transformation programme to enhances its facilities, which included the construction of a new accommodation block and the installation of state-of-the art teaching equipment. The new 100-bed accommodation block, comprising a mix of en-suite and studio rooms, was carefully designed to deliver an energy efficient, sustainable building.

Wetherby Appointed to National Framework

Wetherby Building Systems, the leading provider of solid wall insulation, is celebrating a strong start to the year after its appointment to procurement specialist Fusion21’s ‘Supply of Retrofit and Associated Products’ framework.

The national framework, worth up to £100 million over a four year period, will supply energy efficient materials to local authorities and social housing providers, as well as commercial organisations.

Brick shortage boosts Wetherby’s business

Wetherby Building Systems has seen its brick slip sales increase by 55% in the last six months following the widely reported brick shortage and lack of skilled bricklayers, which has led to specifiers, contractors and end clients looking for alternative solutions.

Wetherby supports Cold Homes Week!

Today marks the start of Cold Homes Week, an initiative designed to call on political parties to commit to ending the UK’s cold homes crisis, and Wetherby is giving its full backing to the campaign.

Wetherby Wins Aldi Contract

Wetherby Building Systems, the UK’s leading designer and distributer of external wall insulation (EWI) solutions, has won a new contract to provide a range of EWI and render systems to national retailer Aldi, for its store new build and refurbishment programme.

The first 12 months of the deal will see Wetherby supplying its systems to 70 Aldi stores across the UK, 50 of which will be new-build, in addition to 20 refurbishment projects, as the retailer also looks to upgrade its existing outlets to match the more modern façade used on the new buildings.

Wetherby Shortlisted at Prestigious Awards

Wetherby Building Systems has been shortlisted in the Sustainable Housing Partnership of the Year category of The Sustainable Housing Awards 2014, organised by Inside Housing magazine and its sister publication Sustainable Housing.

These awards put the spotlight on the best green social housing projects constructed in the UK, and the organisations responsible for them. The partnership between Wetherby, R W Hough & Sons and Powys Council has been shortlisted for an innovative project on the Trehanfren Estate in Newtown, North Powys.

EWI loses out in ECO Consultation Response

Following DECC’s response to the Energy Company Obligation (ECO) Consultation, Published 22 July, Wetherby Building Systems are advising that the reduction in external wall insulation (EWI) installations that will come as a result needs immediate address.

Recycle, Re-Manufacture, Re-Use!

The latest figures for one of Wetherby’s insulation waste schemes shows that an astonishing amount of insulation has avoided landfill.

Wetherby Building Systems Ltd, along with S and B EPS Ltd have worked together to develop an innovative waste recycle scheme for their Epsitherm graphite enhanced, expanded polystyrene.

Waste material on construction sites in UK is a major problem yet since insulation has to be cut to size to fit around openings, waste is inevitable.
