Leading Solid Wall Insulation (SWI) provider, Wetherby Building Systems, has welcomed the changes announced in the government’s response to the ‘ECO: Help to Heat Consultation’ published today. Barrie Stanley, Wetherby’s energy efficiency manager, commented:

Government Increases Target for Solid Wall Insulation

The Government has increased the target for Solid Wall Insulation (SWI) measures from 17,000 a year to 21,000 a year following last years ECO transition consultation.

Key policy decisions include;

An 18 month extension to the ECO scheme (April 2017 – September 2018). Introduction of a more simplified and targeted scheme. The Affordable Warmth Group will be increased to around 4.7m rather than 4m (in consultation) households. New Quality Standards for Insulation Companies – NIA can help you to comply

From 1st April strict new national  quality standards will be introduced for cavity wall, external wall, loft insulation and room in roof insulation, as part of PAS2030, which installers will be required to work to.

The National Insulation Association (NIA) is involved in setting these new standards and they are helping their members to ensure they can comply with them by 1st April.

Colomberie rejuvenation project creating new homes and jobs for the town

The latest renovation project in Colomberie, St Helier has breathed new life and jobs into the town with the redevelopment of a tired office building situated on the corner of La Colomberie and Grenville Street.

The transformation has included a full refurbishment of the external envelope using Wetherby’s EpsiTherm EWI system which has helped rejuvenate the area and modernise the town centre.

The widely acknowledged skills gap is showing no sign of abating, but it seems plastering is the trade in most demand, according to new research from Wetherby Building Systems.

Wetherby Building Systems has questioned more than 500 construction contractors, consultants, architects and installers to find out what the current issues are within the construction sector.

Investors Planning to Refurb Green Deal Announced

Greenstone Finance and Aurium Capital Markets have acquired the business and assets of the Green Deal Finance Company (GDFC), as well as its existing loan book.

Ministers have signed off the deal, selling the Green Deal Finance Company’s (GDFC) assets and remaining loan book in a takeover worth about £40m – a move that will lead to the new owners relaunching the business.

Greenstone Finance, which invests in organisations focused on financing in renewable energy and energy efficiency, and Aurium, a structured finance boutique with a focus on renewable energy, have acquired GDFC Services and its subsidiaries with immediate effect;
