The Pines School project involved transforming two old derelict buildings, Josiah Mason College and the Canavan building, into a new facility to accommodate 200 reception to year six children with special educational needs (SEN).

Tissington Court undergone vital EWI refurb from Wetherby

By: Laura Hennahane   •   November 24, 2016

Tissington Court in Ashbourne, Derbyshire has recently undergone vital refurbishment work to the external walls of the apartment block with the help of Wetherby’s EpsiCoat EWI system.

The external walls of the property were originally installed with a sand and cement render when built which has since failed causing cracks and moisture to form throughout the walls.

Sand and cement render is a traditional but inflexible material and when significant changes in temperature happens, the render is unable to expand and contract with the movement of the building and or the external temperatures causing cracks to happen. Once cracks

Wetherby Winter Working Practices

By: Rachael Doyle   •   November 21, 2016

Wetherby Winter Working Practices Wet and cold weather conditions during the winter months create many potential problems for rendering. Products and systems must be applied to specification, in the correct conditions and protected adequately. It is important contractors understand the best working practices during these months to reduce the risk of wash offs and product failures:

WBS products must be carefully stored and protected from frost. All bags and tubs must be stored off the ground and kept completely dry; using an insulation board to store products on will help to reduce the chances of the product freezing in

Ahead of the Autumn statement next week, our latest research has revealed that the UK construction industry does not have confidence in the current Government to deliver an effective energy efficiency programme.

In a recent survey we conducted with contractors, consultants, architects and installers, only 5% of respondents said they have confidence in the current government to deliver a genuine energy efficiency programme that improves energy efficiency and tackles fuel poverty.

It seems uncertainty is rife among the construction industry with more than three quarters of those surveyed (77%) citing they are currently confused about government energy efficiency

Redevelopment of Wallis House

By: Rachael Doyle   •   November 15, 2016

Damp penetration and high heating costs has resulted in the recent redevelopment of Wallis House in East Grinstead. This solid wall high rise has undergone a transformation to include the installation of Wetherby’s external wall insulation.

Southern Housing Group sought to deliver this project with the collaboration of Lakehouse and Envirofacades ltd focusing on significantly boosting the thermal efficiency of the properties as well as treating the damp penetration.

Wetherby’s Epsiwall system using a combination of Phenolic and Wetherby EpsiTherm (enhanced EPS) insulation was specified as the best measure for this type of construction. This dual
