EWI loses out in ECO Consultation Response

Following DECC’s response to the Energy Company Obligation (ECO) Consultation, Published 22 July, Wetherby Building Systems are advising that the reduction in external wall insulation (EWI) installations that will come as a result needs immediate address.

Wetherby’s Sales Director Paul Kirby, comments: “DECC’s response to the ECO Consultation made for bleak reading for the Solid Wall Insulation (SWI) industry. It is clear that there will be a definite shift away from SWI for the next period of funding, which will only serve to hinder achieving the carbon reduction targets and limit the amount of families brought out of fuel

Recycle, Re-Manufacture, Re-Use!

The latest figures for one of Wetherby’s insulation waste schemes shows that an astonishing amount of insulation has avoided landfill.

Wetherby Building Systems Ltd, along with S and B EPS Ltd have worked together to develop an innovative waste recycle scheme for their Epsitherm graphite enhanced, expanded polystyrene.

Waste material on construction sites in UK is a major problem yet since insulation has to be cut to size to fit around openings, waste is inevitable.

Between January and June 2014 an astonishing 3900m³ of Epsitherm Insulation was reclaimed and since it is 100% recyclable, has been reused in

The National Insulation Association (NIA) is hosting a special workshop on 23rd July aimed at helping to solve issues with fuel poverty in solid wall properties in private housing.

Recent analysis undertaken by the NIA and Centre for Sustainable Energy has identified that there are around 1.5m households living in fuel poverty in solid wall homes and that some 90% of these are in private sector housing (owner occupier and private rented) and unlikely to receive help to insulate through current Government and energy company schemes.
