GDHIF re-opens 10th Dec ’14 – £24m for EWI

DECC has announced that the Green Deal Home Improvement Fund (GDHIF) will re-open for applications on Wednesday 10 December at 9:00am. Full details of phase 2 of the scheme, can be found at:

Key Points for System Manufacturers / Installers:

There will be £30 million available until February 2015 with up to £24 million for SWI and up to £6 million for two other measures. The funding for SWI will be up to a maximum of £4,000 with a contribution of 33% required from the homeowner. There is still funding of £500 available for home buyers applying within

British Gas Fined For CERT & CESP Failings

British Gas Penalised £11 Million

Ofgem have announced that the country’s biggest household provider, British Gas, is to pay £11.1 million for failing to meet key targets. The announcement comes just a week after power generators  Drax and InterGen were stripped of a record £39m sum for similar failures.

The watchdog said the latest penalty would benefit vulnerable customers after its investigation found British Gas missed its environmental obligations under the Community Energy Saving Programme (CESP) and Carbon Emissions Reduction Target (CERT).

Under CESP, energy suppliers and generators were required to deliver energy saving measures to households by the end of December 2012.

GDHIF – Changes to Application & T&C’s

The Insulated Render & Cladding Association have announced today that DECC has recently published updated Terms and Conditions for GDHIF Phase 2 which will reopen for applications shortly after additional funding of up to £100 million was announced earlier this year.


Funding rates and other scheme details will be confirmed by DECC in due course prior to the scheme reopening.

An important change comes to the application process for householders, who will now need to provide the following to complete an application:

Green Deal Advice Report or an Energy Performance Certificate which is less

Labour release green paper on energy efficiency intentions

Labour have today published a Green Paper, setting out what the party intends to do with the Energy Efficiency Policy if it gets into Government. The contents of the paper are very much in line with the comments made by Shadow Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change, Caroline Flint MP at the Labour Party Conference in Manchester in September. Wetherby solutions used to highlight benefits of EWI to DECC

Working in conjunction with the National Insulation Association (NIA), Wetherby has teamed up with approved contractors Hamilton (Building Contractors) Ltd. to highlight to the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) the challenges that face occupants of some of the UK’s poorest housing stock and the external wall insulation (EWI) solutions available to them.

Winter Working Practices

The wet and cold weather conditions we’re likely to sustain throughout the winter months can create many problems for rendering. Products and systems must be applied in the correct conditions and protected adequately to prevent system failures during this difficult period. I would like to make you aware of the best working practices during these months to reduce the risk of wash offs and product failures.

GDHIF Update from the NIA

As previously advised, the Government recently announced an additional £100m of funding for the Green Deal Home Improvement Fund in England and Wales, Green Homes Cashback in Scotland. Since then we have been in detailed discussions with Government officials about the design of the new scheme with a view to addressing issues that occurred with the original scheme when £120m ran out in just 6 weeks.

Energy Secretary set to announce £100m boost to Green Deal

Energy secretary to announce fresh £100m to reopen Green Deal cash-back incentive scheme

Ed Davey is set to announce a £100m boost to the Green Deal in a bid to drive take up of the struggling energy efficiency programme.

The energy secretary is expected to announce the boost at the Liberal Democrat conference in Glasgow today, with the cash to be used to reopen the cash-back incentive scheme that was closed in July after the first £120m tranche of funding was used up.

NIA responds to Caroline Flint’s speech at Labour Party Conference

Following the speech today by Labour’s shadow energy and climate change secretary, Caroline Flint, announcing its ambitious new energy efficiency strategy, the National Insulation Association (NIA) has welcomed the proposals.
